Concept

The creation of this triptych of lithographic prints involves a technique using liquid ink, water, litho pencils and scalpel work on the limestone, resulting in an organic and fluid aesthetic. The shapes and patterns within the artwork evoke Gjendem's contemplation of the realms of magma and coral reefs.

Each piece is titled to reflect the distinct temperatures associated with their natural environments. “7°” (Coldwater Coral Reef) evokes a cold and intricate underwater world, while “27°” (Tropical Coral Reef) captures the vibrant essence of sunlit waters. Lastly, “727°” (Magma, surface temperature) conveys the raw power of volcanic activity.
